Is anyone else having trouble staying in AWAD? I have been kicked off the system every day for four days running, and am now hopelessly lost as to which posts I have read.

Dear Sparteye: I have several times gotten error message "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down" but I think it is a gremlin in my computer, because I also can't use printer in network. Bill Hunt

Last night I got kicked off, too. The screen said "Bad
Request"! Something about the requested files being too big for the server. I've also been getting my WAD's irregularly for the last two weeks.

Add me to the list of complainants... I got kicked off last evening, and now I don't know which posts I've read either! How annoying.

I too have had problems but because I'm just a "stranger" I chalked it up to my inexperience. I subscribed one day and got my WAD the next, then did not get the next day's issue, re-subscribed and was good for only one day again. I registered for this forum, entered some basic profile info (including new password), made my meager posts, got some public and private responses, then found I did not get the next WAD. Username was still recognized although not my password, got new password sent, re-edited profile info (felt more comfortable to reveal more), checked FAQ's about non-receipt of WAD, queried my ISP and they do not block anything. Then I tried to resubscribe only to have the robot reject my request (Hmmm, you already exist here etc.) I next sent a note to postmaster@wordsmith and got a less than stunning reply that only answered about half of my query. I did get the WAD this morning and have had no trouble with the login to this forum so I'll just wait and see. Maybe too many people like me joined after seeing the article in Smithsonian and Anu and company are just swamped but I agree it's too hard to follow where and what one is about without some continuity. If the erratic operation continues I will definitely lose interest, there is just not enough time available to repeatedly follow all the Mickey Mouse. regards to anyone interested.

Our Witches and Warlock's Quality Control Officer says,
... it's too hard to follow where and what one is about without some continuity.

Are you sure you've come to the right place?
Continuity does exist here, but it is far from obvious and of a relative nature most of the time!

But, further to the substantive point you are making, I keep on trying to access particular threads from my home abacus, only to get the "This file is currently not available" page, which abounds with unhelpful suggestions as to the next action to take. It doesn't happen to every thread - about one in four, I guess, and always one where I'm burning to stick my beak in.
It doesn't happen on the highly inferior automatic cleft-stick that I am issued with at work, either.

What is going on - is there a plot? Maybe Jazz is right! Perhaps Satin has got(ten) into the works? Or have we lost the plot?

I've had the occasional "page not available" message from the Chat server a couple of times in the past day or so. For some reason it always seems to be the first thread in each category. However since I didn't try every category or every thread, that could be an illusion.

I'm sure it's timing out on the server or the ISP - I've never had this problem with the Board before on my home system (which was what Noah used to keep accounts on the ark!)
