Back when the Earth was young, back in 1958, an earlier incantation of this conundrum went something like this...
You find yourself in the middle of a island inhabited by two friendly but divergent tribes of indians - the Blackfeet and the Whitefeet. The Blackfeet never tell the truth in words or deeds, but the Whitefeet always tell the truth.
You need directions to excape to the coast as most of the island is covered with quicksand but a taboo of both tribes requires them to cover their feet. They all agree to draw you a map but the only questions that they will answer will be those about the color of their feet.
How do you get to the coast?

You find an attractive Blackfoot or Whitefoot, get married, and have him/her take you on an exotic honeymoon.

Nifty. With admirable intuition Elizebeth Creith has blundered into the crux! The women are Blackfoots and the men never tell lies. Great!
Now to excape the island all that is neeeded is for you to marry an attractive or ugly (they all taste like chicken) blackfoot woman and do the exact opposite of what she says all the way to the coast.
