yexing, choose one:
a) Scot. laughing exuberantly. (cf. U.S. yukking)
b) The lines on graph paper, so named because the lines define the y and x axes.
c) A term used specifically in the feild of animation to describe the development of current technology from traditional two dimensions into virtual 3-D. Also used to describe the process used to augment two dimension animation with a (virtual) third.
d) the practice of identifying genetically connected attributes and syndromes which manifest through the Y chromosome.
e) (or Ye-hsing) early 20th century Chinese painting style heavily influenced by the European Post-Impressionists.
f) an English West Country term for the process of separating the male and female lambs, prior to removing the testes of the males destined to become wethers (not kept as breeding rams).
g) Yorkshire dial. Weaning of lambs by penning them away from the ewes.
h) The aspect of feng shui that deals with the layout of gardens in relation to a dwelling.
i) [more properly "ye-xing"] an old Chinese pottery-making technique, first used during the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD). It involved the application of successive layers of semi-transparent glaze, all the same hue but of diminishing intensity, to provide greater depth of color and lustre.
j) The signing of a name. A slang word, blended from you're and x-ing, where the x refers to the signature. "By yexing this form, you're agreeing to purchase the three-year extended warranty."
k) A rope securing the mizzen sail to its mast on 17th- and 18th-century warships.
l) the soapy wall of a bubble.
m) Sc. and Brit. dial. (also yesking) sobbing (obs.); hiccuping.
in spite of all of those views of the hogwash rules(?), these are from the usual gang of idjits.

I am not one of "the usual gang of idjits" in the sense that I failed to submit a proposed definition for the term yexing. It has the feel of a Chinese proper noun to me but I also have the sense that it refers to crying so I will vote (if non-submitters are allowed to vote in this round by the hogmeister) for M as it comes closest to "crying."

Having voted, I did a search through AO Hell for yexing, and was amused by the attempted correction:
Did you mean "boxing"?

Ignoring TEd's second post (no fair commenting after looking it up) and feeling that participial forms aren't usually top level dictionary entries and thinking that the Chinese stuff is an armilŪ, but maybe that's an unintended red herring, I think J is the funniest and I would vote for it, but I think I'll take the herring bait. I goes into too much detail for a dictionary entry so it's between E and H. I like the alternate transliteration of E (hsi > xi) so I'll say E.

Er, excuse me, did something in my post give the least bit of a clue as to the true definition? If it did I will delete the post. I must admit that your adding this bit to your post has raised a hackle or two at this end.

I don't know. It could have. I don't know the true definition and I don't want to think much about your post. It's hard to tell about these things. It just seemed to me that it was a thing better left undone.

I goes into too much detail for a dictionary entry... Who says it has to be telegraph style? Wouldn't an encyclopedia-like entry do? I'd feel a lot better about both E and I if not for the other...two near-identicals = both red herrings, scuttle the lot of 'em, says I. That goes for H, too. Unfortunately that also eliminates A and M, likewise B and J and K, E and F. Leaving only C, D, and L... And then this was in today's newspaper, picked up by the Associated Press: http://www.cmonitor.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050814/REPOSITORY/508140438/1012/NEWS. See Pargraph 2. Gotta pick M. Even though I want it to be I.

Since I'm totally befuddled, stymied -- and wary of armilsŪ -- I'm gonna go with L in tribute to the bizarre twist of mind that could have made such a leap.

Me, I say C.
Thinking back, I don't think I've ever guessed one right...hmmm, now I'm all a-flutter, should I just throw an imaginary dart and choose whatever it falls on, or stick with C just cause it sound good.
Ahh, what the hey...I'll keep it at C and cross my fingers.

Question: What is the True Meaning of YEXING?
Is our appointed sennight yet passed? I suspect all the contributors have voted, since we have fifteen ballots for thirteen daffynitions.
I move the nominations be closed. -- Seconded. Move the Secretary cast one ballot in favor. -- Done. Nominations are now closed.
I call the question!

I have yet to do a reckoning to see how many sandbaggers we have. (as some of you know, I've had some computer issues and been unable to access my unedited source.)

Wait, wait--I now know what it is! Y'all take your votes and go home. After all this anticipation and delay, I have decided it is merely a typo for vexing.
