I believe it comes from requesting acknowledgment of who owns you or who's your master.

Common phrase - not wishing to be indelicate, it comes up a lot in b-grade sex talk

I would only know of this out of professional interest, of course.

...acknowledgment of who owns you or who's your master.

Also, of who will 'take care of' your needs.

...b-grade sex talk.

That must make this thread c-grade?!?!

[angel] Here's the deal. I was listening to an oldies station today and they were playing the song "Night of the Season of Love." (this would be from way before your time).
Help me out here, musick: one of the lines is "What's your name? Who's your daddy?" That was, like 35 years ago. And I've heard the expression since. That's all. [/angel]

I wont tell you about the real reason, RM, we've hardly met *EG*

What's your name? Who's your Daddy?"

Also from the Zombies' Time for the Season (1966, I believe):

>What's your name?
(What's your name?)
Who's your daddy?
(Who's your daddy? He rich?)
Is he rich like me?<

The Washington Post sez it started out being very naughty and then evolved into a sort-of not-nice expression which is now sufficiently sanitized to be used in polite society.

It came out in Pogo once as:

What's your name?

Who's your daddy?

How come you're not in school?

Then, there's the Star Wars version:
