Tonight should be good viewing, for clear-skied NE North Americans, at least.

Thanks, Jackie! I don't usually see too many shooting stars but on July 30th I went to a drive in movie and saw 3. Who knows how many I could have seen if it weren't for the blasted movie?

"The best time to look for these 'traditional Perseids' is during the hours before dawn on Thursday, August 12th. Set your alarm for 2 o'clock in the morning; go outside; lie down on a sleeping bag with your toes pointed northeast. You'll soon see meteors racing along the Milky Way."

The first one, The Village, was just OK, in my opinion. If I'm parked at the edge of a cornfield in the dark and can't get my scream on then something's wrong. Everyone else with me thought it was great. We all agreed that the second feature, King Arthur, was a terrible waste of our time, but that was only after we sat through the entire film.

It was overcast and rainy here too. Hurricane season.

Cloudy and overcast here, too.

And boy did I do a whopper of a misspell!

Is the weather any better? You should be able to see shooting stars again tonight at least according to the radio here. (visiting rural Alberta)

The weather is only getting worse, I'm afraid. Well, it's actually kind of cool, but not good for stargazing.
