I wonder if the expression "having half a brain" refers to people who allow one of these aspects to dominate. To organised and rigid and you can't enjoy the world because it won't fit in. To flighty and chaotic and you miss the world as you flitter by. I'd like to think being whole brained was about balancing these things.

Just a note in relation to your time zones. I don't think it is physically possible to be 11 hours ahead of Australia no matter where you reside. Excluding allowances for time-zones and daylight savings, Australia is approximately 10 hours ahead of the UK.

Re: having half a brain--I've always interpreted that
expression as indicating that a person has done something really stupid. Does anybody else feel the same way? My
mention of right- and left-brain referred to the logical
and emotional function designation of each. J

You are absolutely right! The UK is not 11 hours ahead of Australia, nor is the East Coast of the USA behind. I will edit my entry so as not to confuse people. I could use the example of Vladivostok which I seem to remember is an 11 hour time difference to the UK but I've not noticed anyone from there posting a message so far (I could be proved wrong). I can't even blame the spellchecker this time!
