Confabulation can be a psychiatric term for brain damaged
patients giving detailed accounts lacking any factual basis.

Sometimes I think we all suffer from this.

I've heard 'eye witnesses' at a crime scene differ so much
police often have little to go on.

Maybe confabulate and constabulary are linked?
