Today is Olaifest -- at least it is in the Faroe Islands. This is not really their independence day, in that they are not independent of Denmark. Nor is it the day on which they celebrate their constitution; they have another holiday on which to do that. I don't know what Olaifest means, either, but you can bet it is one great party.

Well--I thought I was really on to something when I saw a site that had the holiday as Ólavsøka. However, I cannot find a dictionary that will translate this! Argh.
