for the non-biblical scholars amongst us then:
exegesis - an explanation or critical interpretation (especially of the Bible)
eisegesis - personal interpretation of a text (especially of the Bible) using your own ideas
epexegesis - a full or additional explanation

You're right, ASp - so right that I had to go back to your original to find out that you hadn't put it like that from the start. It is certainly how I read IT!
