Does this mean the ASp can't guess?

>Does this mean the ASp can't guess?

If it does, she is not alone.

Posted By: AnnaStrophic Re: Cryptic - 01/28/04 10:47 PM
..and good at cryptic crosswords she thought she was.

Glad am I I'm not alone, Max.

I had to have it explained to me. I thought the answer was "Happy," and I couldn't get from the clue to the answer.

Good one, WW! The joke's on me! And thanks....

>I thought the answer was "Happy," and I couldn't get from the clue to the answer.

You mean it's not? That's how I read the post, too. Clue, then answer. Time to take another look, I guess, and read the "crinkle-crankle" thread, since the word is foreign to me.

Posted By: of troy Re: Cryptic - 01/29/04 12:38 AM
i sent WW two PM.. i got it on the second try..
as she said:
Yep! You got it! Congratulations!

PS i guessed it was half a crinkle crankle, by 100 (or an ear to ear grin the first time.. or in other words some sort of indication of happiness.

happy (or happiness) isn't the answer, but its part of it.

I don't know who the wavy, zigzag girl is.

Is she crinkling gift wrap?

> who the wavy, zigzag girl is

is a defensible secret ;)

Posted By: tsuwm Re: Crwptic - 01/30/04 03:31 PM
as mav makes things ever more crwptic (with multiple cross-threading :), we owe relative newcomers some explanation and some oldtimers a good fang-lashing. AnnaStrophic is known by many here (with great affection) as the ASp, a serpentine appellation... [beat] de fensible [beat] ...

Posted By: Faldage Re: Crwptic - 01/30/04 03:34 PM
(with great affection)

But be sure you really mean that 'great affection' if you would use that appellation.

Posted By: tsuwm Re: Crwptic - 01/30/04 03:57 PM
ah yes... beware the viperatutive backlash.

I'd give half a cent not to feel like my brain was interred somewhere...

thanks to those who took pity on me...

you know, it's like one of those optical illusions that once you see it, you can't see it any other way...

[mantra]figure, ground, figure, ground...[/mantra]

must keep mind open...

Oh, absolwtely! This was just for fun here--sorry, et'!--and just a cryptic way of getting a message to She Who Would Be Happy...since I know she loves to work puzzles.

Very sorry, folks, if this announcement was a bit too personal, but I honestly couldn't resist the temptation on the noteworthy occasion. I've been there and done that almost five years ago now, and it really is a milestone and not a millstone around the neck.

That's a shame WW, and my condolences to you too AsP, i am 47..(you can check my profile, pretty sure i left that fact in my profile..
been 47 a few years now.. its a nice age, it suits me--but then, those who have met me, know my timeless beauty.

(oh, sorry do you need a papertowel to clean the coffee you sputtered off your monitor and key board? i did tell you to be prepared!
