Please - what does "rimshot" mean - and/or imply?

A rimshot is a type of drumroll, often played to punctuate a punch line for a comedian. Its use sometimes suggests a perception that the quip it follows is a bit ... Catskillish?

Way I got it in my personal brain is it's the percussive sound that the drummer would make to accentuate the host's (or comedian's) punch line in the monolog (or routine). It is made by striking the rim of the drum head with a drum stick.

No fair, that's like having your own personal laugh track.

ah, jazzo, you're still young. It would be too much to ask that my lady, after 25 years together, would still laugh at my jokes.

Can what you cited be considered an example of dittography?

I'll have to have a break. Too much work and sore eyes from too much computing. See y'all in a while.

I will be incredibly busy for the foreseeable future and will not be able to visit AWAD. This means, among other things, that I will be unable to respond to Keiva's challenge, which I see he has started without me, anyway. Perhaps he could choose another adversary. AphonicRants comes to mind.
