Will be out of contact for a few days as I'm heading to the mining expo in Kalgoorlie for a few days as of Tuesday 16 October. Looking forward to maximising sleep deprivation and alcohol intake over 2 days of non-stop networking. Ah, the things us salesmen have to do......

Unfortunately this coincides with belligerentyouth arriving in Perth. We were/are hoping to get together - will keep you posted. (If you see this BY, please try me on my mobile phone)

Just a quick thanks for all you who have particpated in the wonderful rebounding of Q+A to its original state of "faster than I can read them" while "still wanting to" (currently... over 300 posts behind), even poo-bahs *seem to be happy!

Allo everyone,

I am in a pre-Christmas crunch at the office. As many of you know I am in sales. Christmas raises and bonuses for the entire staff depend upon the sales we bring in.

The other reps have hit a wall and I seem to be the only one with business opening up left and right. The down side is that I am called upon to work evenings and week-ends. So I won't be able to check in too often.

I will still be handling the Wordapalooza yearbook stuff, (tsuwm send me your survey, it won't hurt to fill it out, promise), and the scrounging of materials.

I am still answering e-mails. Those are very fast, I can usually send eight or nine e-mails in the time it takes to load up one thread, let alone make a post.

So, I have not left the Board, I am only away for a bit.

Salut, have a great week.

À la prochaine!

Its official. I am leaving tomorrow morning for a one weeks visit to meet my first grandchild - Kara, who was born at 3:25 a.m. (Florida time). This time I may be too busy to even check e-mails. (probably hugging that sweet little Pumpkin.)

Congratulations! Abuelita is your new title in Spanish. And Tío Abuelo would be the title of another board member.

Congratulations satin , and to the parents as well. Tried to think of a word to cover [your] son and daughter-in-law or son-in-law and daughter as the case may be, and failed miserably. Any suggestions?

Though we were never "officially" away, me and Mr Mac have been absent for some time. He, due to demise. Me, due to his demise and a buncha other thangs that some of y'all are aware of.
Anyway, he's been reincarnated* as a brand spankin new I-Mac, with a few bells and whistles I'm still learning. No, he was not available in fruit flavors. Mood indigo are we.

I hope to be rejoining y'all soon; there are thousands of posts to see. Faldage is directing me toward threads he thinks I'll enjoy. If anyone else who knows me would like to help steer Mr Mac toward good threads and away from those that are definite time-wasters, I'd very much appreciate it. I can even accept PMs now without crashing!!! (hey, it's not a dedicated line, but it's faster than what I had before).

I'm leaving for the UK tomorrow for a Christmas/New Year holiday, and will be back home on Jan. 10th. My computer access will probably be quite sporadic while I'm away, so

Selamat Idul Fitri
Happy Hanukkah
Merry Christmas
Happy New Year

and enjoy whatever other occasions you may be celebrating while I'm away.

I'll be going to LA this weekend, and it looks like I get to meet caradea & co. while I'm there! We'll spend some time collaborating on Wordapalooza, I'm sure, as well as keeping a transcript of our meeting.

Back on Wednesday! (Although I haven't been posting much lately anyway... ah well. You might notice I'm gone!)

Off to Kalgoorlie for a few days w/c 21 Jan.

No doubt my trans-Tasman brethren will use the opportunity of my absence to slander the best efforts of the Aussie cricketers. Could somebody (doc?) please defend the national pride against their slings and arrows? Ta.

in a similar fashion, Fb, I'm trading in negative deg. C. for +20 deg. C. for several days (Mpls. v. Phoenix)

Could somebody (doc?) please defend the national pride...

I'll do what I can, but I'm hoping the national selectors will start to pull their weight too.

I must admit I'm more worried about NZ playing SA than NZ playing Oz these days ...

I know that you'll all be crying tears of salt when I inform you that I will be absent for a week from tomorrow morning. I'm off to Menton to terrorise the French with my breathtakingly bad French and to suck lemons.

I may put up a new contribute to the Travels page on my return, if anyone is interested ...

crying tears of salt when I inform you that I will be absent for a week

Well personally, I'm devastated that you're not around because we Aussies Hi Doc, Hi stales might have to wait a week to mention the lacklustre performance of the NZ cricket team in the VB Finals . The only exciting thing about the second final - I was there - was the phenomenal hail storm. The SCG was white - it looked like we'd had snow!

NZ weren't the only ones to blame for a boring game though. South Africa were equally disappointing, despite winning, mainly because they could easily have won it in style, not in a grinding, slow run meander. (I could hardly describe it as a run chase. That would imply a sense of urgency, of which there appeared to be none.)

Anyway - that's enough of my cricket commentary for the time being. Come back soon, CK because I just know you'll have fun telling me that "At least NZ made it to the finals..." !
