I work about 1/2 mile, under a k. from WTC.. we were evacuated about 2 minutes after the second building was attached, but all mass transit was a mess, and i live about 15 miles from where i work, so it took hours to get home.

i 'll post more latter, i haven't been able to reach many thank you all for your prayers and thoughts.

Oh Helen, we were all worried. Thank you for writing even though, I am sure, you have so many more things to be thinking about at this time. We are all so glad you are o.k.

no, actually, at a time like this, all you can think of, is all your family and friends-- i was fine, as faldage was so kind to point out, i was about 0.5 mile from the WTC. but i knew everyone would have heard the news, i was unable to let any one know for sure that i was okay. many phone lines were out, and there were long lines at all the pay phones.

it just took hours to get home, since all mass transit was shut down

it was very upsetting, seeing the building in flames, and later seeing them collapse. the news just announce that almost 200 police and firemen who went to help after the first attach, and were injured when the second building was attached.

after the attach, my building, which houses FBI offices, and the anti-terrorism task force, was evacuated almost immediately after the second WTC tower was attached.

once out of the building, we were encouraged to move northm and away from the site. i was upset enought to walk away, but headed to a bar, and was having a double scotch when the first (south building) collapsed, and was evacuated further north and was on the street as the second building collapsed.

i was uninjured, but not unaffected. as i was walking north, heading toward a way to get home (it took all day) i met a woman who was covered with dust and ash from the explosion. i took charge of her, got her seated, got her water , and just held her in my arms till stopped trembling.

all over, other were doing the same and more. the local hospitals are overwhelmed with blood doners, i will give blood tomorrow.

thank you for all your prayers.
