Like Marianna I too will be away from the board for sometime.
As Anna suggested, this thread is for people to announce their absence.

Happy landings, Avy

Just so I don't forget, I was gone last week at a Boy Scout summer camp with my troop. This Thursday I'll be leaving for the Junior Leader Training course I'm on staff for. I teach younger Scouts how to be leaders. I'll be gone until August 11. I may have internet access there, but I don't know.

Posted By: Jackie Re: Away for awhile - 07/30/01 06:15 PM
I'll be heading for parts Northern on Wed., the first, but will check in here first! Back either late Mon. the 6th. or Tuesday the 7th. I'm not sure yet. I expect to have very little internet access, but if I get any, I will come here and check for messages. I can't be sure of accessing my e-mail, I found out.

As of Thursday, Aug 2, I will be off-line for prolly about a week. That's the day the movers come, and the bad men will snatch Mr Mac from my loving arms. I trust Faldage will keep me apprised of the goings-on here.

I have failed to answer some PMs, and I apologize for that. The dern thang takes too long to load, and I am now in a frenzied packing mode.

I will miss you all. Behave yourselves during my absence

... Happy trails, Avy and Jackie; boa viagem, Marianna -- and JazzO, congrats on your status as "Linguaphile of the Month."

Posted By: AnnaStrophic Bye for now, y'all - 08/01/01 09:03 PM
I hope when I return to this forum it will be filled with posts about words, as was the intent.

As Garrison Keillor, a US radio broadcaster over tsuwm and Fiberbabe way, says, "Be well. Do good work."

Off to parts north her Mac trudges, she following hours behind....

OK boys, break out the beer, cigars and the cards! It's party time!

Posted By: Faldage Cheese it, guys! - 08/02/01 11:47 AM
She's back.

Posted By: Sparteye Re: Cheese it, guys! - 08/02/01 01:43 PM
Be careful, Faldage! The cat might be away, but she left a camera to record all the mice at play. Cards and cigars now, but runnin' for our lives next week, it is!

Deal me in, anyway.

Meow!

What's the word for movers who call up at the time they're due to announce they are postponing pick-up to the next day, after you've practically arranged your entire life around them?

~~~
...and yes, Sparteye. Spies will be at work during my absence.
>What's the word for movers who call up at the time they're due to announce they are postponing pick-up to the next day, after you've practically arranged your entire life around them?
well, if they *did call at the time they were due to announce they were postponing, just what is your complaint; he asked duplicitously.
Yeah, tsuwm. When I re-read that I didn't understand it mah own self. But if we work vewwy vewwy hard, we can parse it out somehow to arrive at the intended meaning. Double entendre, schmouble entendre. [no emoticon here]
In case anyone was worried because they hadn't heard from me, my poor handicapped computer has gone to the big LAN in the sky. I am waiting for a friend to remember to give me one he has in his basement. He swears he will remember. Otherwise, next Monday I'm at Best Buy. I'll be back.
ok
[Huge self-satisfied grin e!]
your timing couldn't have been better for this post, J! just yesterday Sparteye and i were lamenting the lack of a nickname for you (we'd been pondering how we'd address each other IRL ~ with our board names or our real names, or whether we'd vacillate wildly).
so now i know ~ we'll simply call you Cupid =)
according to the ™ bearer, you need to replace that first r with an a.
Well, if you're volunteering, Sweetheart...
just yesterday Sparteye and i were lamenting the lack of a nickname for you
Oh, I don't like that! It unnerves me to think that people were talking about me; I can never imagine that anyone ever gives me a thought unless I am with them...eek.
That'd be ®, in this case, tsuwm.
*Couldn't make it nothing but a ? for some strange reason.
Rhonda, I'm no good at being noble, but it doesn't take much to see that the
problems of these little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world.
