Given the erratic nature of AWAD mail's arrival in my box, thi may be old hat to many, but I just had to post it anyway.

5. Linguaphile(s) of the Month

Jacqulyn Fulner (iroquois02@home.com) for making AWADtalk, the bulletin board http://wordsmith.org/board , a better community by welcoming new members and spreading good cheer.

if Jackie graduates soon to archon or sumtin', on top of this, she's going to be aggravated as all get out.

Posted By: AnnaStrophic Re: Amen, Anu! - 05/26/01 10:19 AM
Jackie, let us know your schedule when you start the talk show circuit

Posted By: Jackie Re: Amen, Anu! - 05/26/01 12:06 PM
Oh my God, you-all! I...oh, heck, you-all are friends, so I'm going WAY out on a limb, and just copy my response to my Zildean friend, Capital Kiwi, who rec'd. the newsletter before I did and "kindly" sent me the notice. I think this pretty well sums up my feelings, which haven't changed an iota.

DAVID!!! You...you...don't mean it!!!!! Oh my GOD!!
He did THAT? ANU did THAT?!?!!!!!! Oh my God!!!
Oh, it must be in one I haven't gotten yet. Oh my God,
I am going to DIE! OH!!!!!! OH!!!!!! I don't know
whether to be more...more...HONORED--oh my GOD
ANU put that in there about ME??????????????--or
EMBARRASSED!!!! Oh David! OH DAVID!!! Oh, I am dying!!!!
oh, WHAT am I going to DO??? My face is on fire, and I
haven't even SEEN the newsletter! OH, I can't believe he
even THOUGHT about me--let alone did something like that!
Oh my God...Oh, my face cannot be still--I don't know whether
to laugh with delight, or cry tears of embarrassment. Oh my God,
I can't believe this!

And, oh , yes, um...thanks (she said with totla distraatcion_

Now, now, Lassie, calm yourself down.
It was just your due. And Anu, being the gentleman he is, was simply doing what any gentleman would do ... praising publically one who adds so much to our days here.

Posted By: musick Re: Amen, Anu! - 05/26/01 02:30 PM
Adding the most, actually!®

Posted By: Sparteye Re: Amen, Anu! - 05/26/01 02:35 PM
Woohoo! Jackie!

And way to go, Mr Garg!

Posted By: Bingley Re: Amen, Anu! - 05/27/01 09:34 AM
Just recognition where it's due, so calm down and let yourself bask in it.

Jackie,
Please append my kudos to your bulletin board of glittering and heartfelt congratulations. As one of the beneficiary of such TLC that Anu is talking about, I say "it is about time!"

Bravo, Anu for giving our friend some well deserved credit. You've made the Board a great place Jackie. Thanks.

Posted By: belligerentyouth Jacqulyn, oh Jacqulyn - 05/28/01 11:44 AM
Hats off lads.

Posted By: Faldage Brava to Jackie for deserving it - 05/28/01 12:09 PM
And bravo to Anu for recognizing it.

Such well deserved praise couldn't happen to a nicer person-- You do so much Jackie-- to help set the tone-- so this board has fun-- and forays into the gutter-- but it always maintains a civilized air-- and you're always the first to welcome newbies-- (and make us really feel welcome!)

Posted By: maverick Re: Amen, Anu! - 05/29/01 01:37 PM
such well deserved praise couldn't happen to a nicer person

And so sez all of us.

I do think, though, that Anu might review his policy of broadcasting email addresses in those epistles. However, be it noted that true to form Jackie gets propositioned from India whilst I just got begging letters! [justice]

Posted By: Sparteye Re: Amen, Anu! - 05/29/01 01:41 PM
Whoa! Propositions from India? Do dish!

Posted By: Jackie Re: Amen, Anu! - 05/29/01 03:42 PM
Propositions from India? Do dish!

Well, mav exaggerated a little bit, perhaps. I got an
e-mail from a person who said he is a 30-year-old bachelor,
asking me to tell him about myself so that we can "weave the fabric of friendship".

I think I scared him off when I told that I am in fact,
old and fat, to say nothing of married.

As usual, I get the word very late, since I have to come to the office to use my computer and we had a holiday. What a great way to start the week after a holiday! No one but you, my dear, could merit being a Pooh-Bah and also a Linguaphile of the Month -- a combination of honor I do not expect to see surpassed any time soon, if ever. Congratulations and much love.

Posted By: juanmaria Re: Amen, Anu! - 05/29/01 07:35 PM
Although late, as usual, there is my double congratulation to Jackie for her election as linguaphile of the month and her graduation to Pooh-Bah.
If there weren’t persons like Jackie how come an English student as me would dare to participate in this forum?.
Spare a thought for the plebe in your meetings of the Pooh-Bahs guild.

Woweeee! After a five day break from work, I am terribly late withthis one, and y'all have all said it all, if you know what I mean.
But it would be grossly impolite for Time Honoured Lancaster not to add its encomium to the towering struture of praise above. So:- - -

Dearest Jackie, my heartfelt congratulations on your richly deserved mention by He Who Rules the Word. He has summed up, in an admirably succinct fashion, what we all feel about you. May you continue to welcome newbies and to be the arbiter of civilized good taste - from the roof-top to the gutter - for many centuries to come.

Posted By: rodward Re: Amen, Anu! - 05/30/01 11:19 AM
and to make public what I have already communicated in private. In amongst what must be one of the most civilised and welcoming boards on the net, Jackie still sets an example to us all in her demeanour, tolerance, and gentle ribbing. May it long continue. And congratulations on the formal acknowledgement.

Oh man, you-all--you are making me blush all over again.
I thank you, but...to me, this is nothing worthy of all this praise. This is just normal, common courtesy. Period.

Xackly. [bigheart]

Which is uncommon enough - and considered abnormal enough in some places - to be worthy of comment and praise - Unfortunately!

It couldn't have happened to a sweeter gal.
My personal thanks for just being who you are and for everyone else knowing it too.

I keep seeing the word "actually" in here with a TM or R symbol. What's up with that?

Posted By: lusy Re: Amen, Anu! - 05/31/01 02:28 AM
Yeah, I'll drink to that!

G'donya, Jackie, you're an international living treasure.

Darling lusy, are you suggesting that I belong in a
museum? Gee, I wonder if Anu has one he could
keep me in?

The Great Anu keeps you in his heart ... where better for the guiding light of this board?
Should you ever want to wander ... well, you already have a place in mine. I'm keeping a candle in the window.

fractured_snoot queries I keep seeing the word "actually" in here with a TM or R symbol. What's up with that?

actually®, as you might have guessed from the underwhelming response, nothing.

Posted By: Jackie Re: Amen, Anu! - 05/31/01 03:04 PM
Dearest wow,

That is about the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me.
Thank you, Dear Heart...I love you!

Posted By: Faldage Re: Actually - 06/01/01 03:09 PM
Or, as AnnaS would say,"Harrumph®!" I'd say "Hi E!™" but it's not necessary at the moment.
