Posted By: LukeJavan8 Re: Rhuby's away! - 09/10/12 03:35 PM
Actually I had not opened this email yet, but as long
as he is not out fondling kindergartners it matters
little to me. I don't text, and don't speak text, usually
ignoring all those acronyms or whatever they are.

Have we discussed it before? Is that what you mean by
"remember now"?

I don't text Rhub, so you've got me.

YCLIU Luke.
Txt speak is also known as Netspeak amongst social networkers.
Posted By: tsuwm Re: R.T.K. - 09/16/12 11:41 PM
many of these internet initialisms predate texting - I started seeing them when I first began frequenting USENET forums, which predated internet forums such as this one (this would have been during the 90s).

"Usenet is like a herd of performing elephants with diarrhea. Massive, difficult to redirect, awe-inspiring, entertaining, and a source of mind-boggling amounts of excrement when you least expect it."

Like you say, a precursor to UBB.
I'd used terms such as WYSIWYG and GUI and HUI as well
Posted By: tsuwm Re: R.T.K. - 09/17/12 02:49 AM
I wonder if some of them even date from the days of the BBSs? nah, probly not..
Posted By: Avy Re: R.T.K. - 09/17/12 08:47 AM
Those days when what you saw wasn't what you got! Sheesh! The dark ages.
"This word processor is WSYWYG!"
"IT IS?"
"Yes."
"WOW!!" *with awe in the eyes*

But surely you will remember now, Luke that AFK = Away From Keyboard!

You have come across it before.....when wofahulicodoc said it recently.

And its not to far to figure out that RTK means the Rhuby has returned (to keyboard) smile
Posted By: Faldage Re: R.T.K. - 09/17/12 12:30 PM
Rhuby's Too Kewl.
Posted By: Rhubarb Commando Re: R.T.K. - 09/17/12 02:39 PM
As I teased Luke with ROFL...., knowing he doesn't speak text, I probably deserve to have
Rhuby's Too Krool
blush

Oh, well, no loss. I am not a social networker either, rather
read a good book. But thanks, Olly.

A. has been told that when connections get slow it is from WWW pipes being clogged with LOLcats. Could be just the fur.

Tell me, Aramis; is that 6 x V or 3 x W - or a graph of Western economy over the last 50 years?
