Here is a website which offers photographs of the Maverick Brothers -- Brett and Bart. In order to use one of these, our brother Maverick would have only to decide which he is more like.

Then, again, mebbe he's more like this:

No, Juan. That's not our Mav.

Try one of these instead

The bull is good. The horses' heads is too Janus-like. The stud service does seem fitting.

Yes, our Maverick is more exotic and not your average Welsh sheep-wanker

Now, if I were Irish, Striner or New Zealander, I'm sure Mav would have something fitting to say. Wonder what he'll say to a Michigan ex-pat living in the Caribbean?
Posted By: maverick Re: Running with the al-pac-a - 11/20/05 09:43 PM
> He has outstanding character, with perfect conformation, and a nice small face with stunning features. His sire, Blue Sterling, is one of our most prized herd sires; one of only two known Alpacas with 'blue' in his color. Mavericks conformation and fleece lead us to believe he will add great offspring to any herd.

awww, shucks...

but didja see some of my friends there? maximus and juan in a million were a couple that caught my eye!

Yup. And Remington as well.

Of course it's only appropriate that Remington has a higher stud fee than those "others" you mentioned.

You know, this sounds like a coming-of-age novel or either a line from a Gilbert & Sullivan tune.
Posted By: Jackie Re: a line from a Gilbert & Sullivan tune. - 11/22/05 02:01 AM
Did they write "We Got Trouble"? [whistling]

or a spaghetti Western, one...
Posted By: consuelo Re: An avatar for Maverick - 11/28/05 10:50 AM
A spaghetti western where the cowboys ride alpacas? That would be something to see

Well, check out Snopes for the Mr Ed story...

Besides, it'd make for endless fun for TEd as a scriptwriter:
Cool Hand Luke: "This town ain't big enough for the both of us!"
Black Hat Mitch: "I'll, ah, pack a' ma bag!"

Be honoured! Say, Stud, is that a Remington in your pocket, or are you just pleased to see my alpaca?

[wishing there was a weary sigh emoticon]
On those rare occasions when I pun, I try to rely on the auditory effect, rather than resort to mispelling the word, which I've always regarded as the blunt instrument approach to punning. That's why I did not resort to the crudely obvious Llama.

this title deliberately left blank

I did, after all, borrow tsuwm's 'o' title for a reason.

People taking it upon themselves to try to "improve" my attempts at humour will always push my buttons.

ooooh, don't worry about the gift-wrapping...

try to "improve" my attempts at humour Ah--now I understand. I suppose I was, but only for myself: for me, the visual humor of Dalai Llama when talking about alpacas is funnier than the auditory kind. I am sorry I stepped on your toes.
Edit: also, it was foolish and thoughtless of me to assume that others might think the same way I do.
===========================================================

tsuwm: I don't know what a Red Card is. Enlighten me, please? Maybe by PM; judging by the tone of your post, it must be something horrible...

> I don't know what a Red Card is.

well then, what did you think that icon represents??

(In futbol red cards (or yellow cards) are 'given' to blatant (or semi-blatant) rules transgressors; I believe a red card or two yellows during a game warrants dismissal.)
Posted By: Jackie Re: An avatar for Maverick - 11/29/05 09:30 PM
what did you think that icon represents?? Someone being hauled up by the ear for committing a transgression. And I wasn't flashing it to anyone--it was intended to represent me, just as means I am delighted that we are finally getting some cold weather.

well, if you go back to where you got the guy with a red arm(?),
there is one just like him with a yellow(!). <grin>

I can't see the icon which has prompted all this discussion.

Thanks. Is that in somebody's post? Red cards are used in Rugby Union as well as football.
