so here's another website conundrum:

hits have been up about 25% this week at the wwftd site, and while it's not unusual to have wild fluctuations due to new links, this spike seems to have been largely due to a run on two specific words: verklempt and wanker. most of these hits have come via OneLook with a few googles as well, but what I haven't been able to discern is the cause of it all. has anyone seen these used in the news or at other word-a-day sites within the last week?

I put the word into the IE address box and searched. It found "about 1383" listings. I didn't feel like looking through the entire list (!), but I noticed on the first page that it has come up on a Lycos finance board twice recently: March 28th and April 2nd.

I'd venture an answer, tsuwm, but my wanker is all verklempt...sorry.

(talk amongst yourselves for awhile...)

yikes!

What is the origin of verklempt, please? Dutch, maybe?

Stricture of male urethra? Late Neisserian nicety?
