Well, since we've ascertained our soap opera and porno star names, we might as well discover our hobbit names:

Mine is Orangeblossom Bleecker-Baggins of Fair Downs. I seem to have married into royalty!

Pansy Foxburr of Loamsdown

Primula Bramble of Willowbottom.
That's fun, Sparteye!

Posted By: jimthedog Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/20/01 10:01 AM
I am Berilac Underhill of Frogmorton, using my real name. Using jimthedog, I'm Sancho Chubb-Baggins. Haaaa, ha ha ha ha.

Posted By: maverick Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/20/01 11:05 AM
Milo Bramble of Willowbottom, reporting for duty in the service of the fantastic!

Posted By: Flatlander Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/20/01 11:18 AM
I become Drogo Loamsdown of Great Smials. And my wife *does say that I've got a great smial.

… aka Hambut Burrows

Posted By: Faldage Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/20/01 01:04 PM
Drogo Loamsdown of Great Smials

Ha! From one Drogo to another! I am Drogo Frumblefoot of Bywater.

As Faldage I am Hey, there's so many of you visiting. Thanks. Will try and keep it going but the traffic load sometimes makes it unavailable. Please accept my apology if it's timing out on you or your friends.

Well, that's what I get if I insist on putting the of in there. Without it I am Drogo Maggot. I shall interpolate it and transmorgrify it and become, professionally, Drogo the Maggot
Posted By: Jackie Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/20/01 01:51 PM
Faldage! I can't believe YOU came out to be a Bywater!
Stole my paulb's glory, literally from right under him!

Using my full name: Myrtle Took of Great Smials

Not being fond of the name Myrtle, I tried my short one:
Dimple Took of Great Smials. MUCH better!

Lovely site!

todo sandybanks -- I had to unacronymize and then artificially conjoin... and yes, I am ashamed of myself, and I want nothing further todo with this.
-sandy

[jackie, I'm actually Berilac Took of Great Smials, but it's a secret.]
Posted By: AnnaStrophic Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/20/01 02:36 PM
Peony Sandybanks of Frogmorton here.

Wonder if this makes me tsuwm's second cousin thrice removed or something?

Posted By: wow Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/20/01 02:50 PM
What fun!
And being married I did both maiden and married name -- here's what I got.
Maiden name :
Orangeblossom Burrows of Tuckborough
Married name :
Orangeblossom Broadbelt of Buckland
So shall I be "of Tuckborough" or "of Buckland"?
??? Your opinions please ...
I tend towards Buckland myself

Posted By: Marianna Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/20/01 02:53 PM
And Mav and I must be cousins...

Posted By: Bobyoungbalt Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/20/01 03:07 PM
If I use my full name, it makes me Grigory Goodbody of Brockenborings. Using Bob, as I do mostly, it's Mongo Goodbody of Brockenborings. Using my AWAD screen name yields Mongo Loamsdown of Great Smials.

Posted By: Anonymous Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/20/01 03:52 PM
Lila Burrows

what a ripoff... i wanted a long fancy name.

and caradea comes out as "Rosie-Posie" - no, thanks =)

Posted By: Bean Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/20/01 03:54 PM
Greetings all from Rosie-Posie Gamgee-Took of Bywater (married name),
aka Rosie-Posie Bramble of Willowbottom (maiden name),
aka Rosie Bramble of Willowbottom (Board name + maiden name)!

Posted By: nancyk Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/20/01 04:53 PM
Interesting. My Hobbitt family consists of moi, Pearl Deepelva of Breckenborings; husband Belba Deepelva, etc.; and sons (?), Camellia and Ruby . Is there something they haven't told me?

Posted By: Chemeng1992 Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/20/01 04:59 PM
Sparteye, I knew we were soul-sisters.
Maiden - Orangeblossom Chubb-Baggins
Married - Orangeblossom Sandy-Banks

A couple of interesting things here....First, I am obviously glad to lose the Chubb in my name. I'm very sensitive to these things. Secondly, I married a southerner who loves the beach, is that where the 'Sandy Banks' comes from??

Posted By: Faldage Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/20/01 05:02 PM
Orangeblossom Burrows of Tuckborough

or

Orangeblossom Broadbelt of Buckland

Depends. Are hobbits matrilocal or patrilocal; matrilineal of patrilineal?

You might be Burrows of Buckland or Broadbelt of Tuckborough.

My daughters are Ruby and Berylla. Can someone enlighten me on 'Berylla'?

Posted By: Cameron Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/20/01 08:55 PM
Ruby and Berylla go well together. A number of precious stones are beryl, which is called "the mother of gemstones". Emerald is a green beryl, aquamarine an aquamarine beryl, etc. A ruby is not a red beryl- a red beryl goes by the exotic name of red beryl.

Posted By: WhitmanO'Neill Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/20/01 09:20 PM
Drogo Moss of Lake-by-Downs...lush vegetation near water suits me just fine! Joining my fellow Drogos Faldage and Flatlander. Then, again, maybe Drogo is the Hobbit name for "Bob".

Thanks, Sparteye...loads of fun! The URL's on its way to lots of friends and children!
But I couldn't get back in for my boardname...so I'll have to check in with an edit on that later.
Edit...My boardname becomes Mungo Hamwich of Buckleberry Fern! don't say a word, Jackie!

Posted By: Jackie Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/21/01 01:20 AM
Dear Mungo Hamwich of Buckleberry Fern:
suddenly, I'm starting to feel hungry...

MORE FUN!!--
tsuwm, I ran your name through the anagram server, and got, among other things, A BAA FELICE LOG KISS TOM TORR.

Posted By: xara Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/21/01 01:24 AM
my married name is Bramblerose Hamwich of Buckleberry Fern.
my maiden name is Bramblerose Burrows.
and if i use my board name i'm Lila Burrows.
seems that i've married into WO'N's family, but i must have a lot more in common with caradea than we knew!

Posted By: WhitmanO'Neill Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/21/01 03:32 AM
married into WO'N's family

Hmm, xara...married into...you sure in Middle Earth this doesn't make us (gulp)...husband and wife?
And, now, introducing for the first time in public...Mr. and Mrs. Hamwich of Buckleberry Fern! (Mungo and Bramblerose, respectively). What a pair, huh?!

Posted By: Bingley Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/21/01 05:08 AM
I didn't really take to Grigory Grubb of Little Delving (my real name) and I'm not sure about Sancho Knotwise of Michel Delving (Bingley Austen) either.

I'm putting in famous people's names. Teddy Roosevelt is Togo Baggy-Hillocks of Dwalling. Winston Churchill is also Mungo Knotwise of Michel Delving. Stalin is Bolo Loamsdown of Deephallow. Julius Caesar is Fosco Boggy-Hillocks. John Lennon=Olo Brandybuck of Buckland. Paul McCartney=Hambut Bulge of Hobbiton. George Harrison=Ponto Sandybanks of Frogmorton. Ringo Starr=Hamson Sandybanks. Adolf Hitler is Grigory Taodfoot of Frogmorton.

Real name: Rosie-Posie Bramble of Willowbottom. I don't think so.

Board name: Tigerlily Bramble of Willowbottom. Yeah, I can live with that.

Posted By: nancyk Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/21/01 12:31 PM
Thank you all for your kindnes in overlooking my stupid mistake, i.e., that I plugged in the names of my male family members into the female Hobbitt-name-finder! As usual, it was operator error (me). For the record, their "real" Hobbitt names are Hambut, Togo and Drogo Deepdelver of Brockingborings (much better).

Posted By: of troy Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/21/01 03:49 PM
and AnnaS and i must be kin-- though its hard to see us sharing any qualities in common.. since i am told that i am Poppy Sandybanks of Frogmorton

Oh dear-- i hope i am not going to be the black sheep in my hobbit family, too!

Posted By: Jazzoctopus Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/21/01 08:18 PM
Loamsdown must be a popular place. I'm simply Mungo Loamsdown.

I think I prefer translating Mr. Jazz Octopus better: Polo Tighfield of Tookbank.

Posted By: Capital Kiwi Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/21/01 08:38 PM
Hmmm...I'm Drogo Broadbelt of Buckland.

Personally, I really think I'm Snobdish Finklebroath of Dunny on the Wold ...

I'm putting in famous people's names.

Our illustrious President is Squinty of Simpleton.
His predecessor-in-office was Todo Knotwise of Michel Delving.
I shall refrain from further comment.

I'm almost a Frodo to ask.

Sorry to revive a slightly old thread, but I've been away, and I loved this one.

My hobbit name, with my real name, is Mungo Knotwise of Whitfurrows - which I love, as I have a fascination with knots. Using my screen name (actually, the full latin name of the frog I'm named after), I get the lamentable Bingo Boggy-Hillocks.

Posted By: Faldage Re: Your Hobbit Name - 08/27/01 06:13 PM
Mungo Knotwise of Whitfurrows

Bingo Boggy-Hillocks

I've noticed a tendency for real names to end in of Someplaceorother and for screen names not to. Any counter examples?
