Dutch French loanwords subscription expires.

The French president Hollande demanded that the Netherlands return all loanwords before 2015. Indirect reason for his 'cri de coeur' is the 200th anniversary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which will be celebrated from 2013 to 2015

- 1813 marked the end of French rule and various words and phrases from French origin were loaned. The Dutch government has for years been able to renew the subscription but after 200 years the French want their words back.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Frans Timmermans relativates his worries about the file in his portfolio. "This idée-fixe of France is not an ordinary request but a logical measure in historical perspective."
The Netherlands have made some question remarks about the name Hollande. Stef Blok (VVD) is alert on some economic profits that may result from this request. The research office of his party forsees a significant growth of demand for cordon bleus, horloges en prostitutes. The rumor that proper names are at stake too is an outrage says Frans . For 'Cedric', 'Bernard' and 'Louise' they wil try to work out a slow and mild replacement construction.

The CPB expects that only 69% of all French loanwords can be replaced in time.
This is good news for cabaretiers, trottoirs and oeuvres.
Bad news for parvenues and bonvivants because from 1915 they will have to do without lingerie, polonaise and bouillon.

Something like that I suppose. The idea of this being serious would be real fun. If you think of it on a world wide scale.

my thoughts as well.

Koreas Kim Jong-Un became the sexiest man alive in 2012. And it was re-reported as fact by one of the local rags.

And the Chinese believed it, as they did some time
back when they reported Congress wanted to leave DC
and were looking for a new home.
