So many other languages have come and gone over the past five decades - including MANTIS, FORTRAN, MUMPS, Forte, and Smalltalk - but COBOL refuses to die.
They got that wrong. FORTRAN and Smalltalk are still being used, as well as another language from 1959, LISP.
