I'm writing my Degree thesis and I have decided to focus it on "word of the
day/week" Web sites, and this one is one I've chosen.

That is why I need some information on how this website works.
this is what I need to understand:
Who chooses the word of the day(or the theme chosen) every day and with
which criterion. Are they related to any particular event?- From where do you take the definitions (which particular dictionary)
Do you think it is just for mother toungue or for learners as well?

*******I do indeed. I collect what I call "type-2 words," those slightly more elegant or apposite than the common type-1 but which would be understood by nearly anybody. When Anu comes up with one I record it in a notebook beside my Apple

[apposite" dangles somewhere between 2 and 3]

******For instance in everyday conversation one might use the type-1 "crabby," where type-2 "acrimonious" or "rancorous" might be more appropriate

Many of Anu's terms however qualify as "type-3", slighty snooty, like "contumelious" or "contumaceous"which I'm glad to get but make no special effort to remember

if you can, be detailed. I mean not just say....it's interesting, nice and stuff.....
