Greetings All

Looking to license an old car I've been doing up, so have "got into" car number PL8's lately.

THE definitive site on this subject is at: http://www-chaos.umd.edu/misc/origplates.html - some people are VERY clever with only 8 or 9 alphanumeric characters!!

One that's not there (yet - I have advised the webmaster) is one I saw the other night here in Perth, Western Australia. An Asian guy was driving the car, so his application had probably not been given a second look. The plate is - TIHZ HO . Looks innocuous enough -until you read it in your rear view mirror!! Excellent!!!

In case you have a little time on your hands, you'll find a discussion from the mists of time at: http://wordsmith.org/board/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=wordplay&Number=3014
but feel free to carry on posting here.

I feel that should be [inane smile] but I was trying to be friendly!

Playboy Magazine had a snippet in a 70s issue about a vanity plate in Texas that read "PAN-8". By Texas law it should have been banned.

Anyone know why?

Here's a hint: if you don't answer euphemistically, you'll be considered rude.

Apparently, panocho (PAN-8) or panoochie is Tex-Mex slang for, how shall I say it, the female reproductive organs.

Well, that's how I remember it...

Tsk, tsk, tsk. If this thread keeps descending at current rate I shall have to make a note to check it more often!

How funny - I saw that same Playboy snippet (I had just begun studying Spanish, and just begun studying Playboy) and occasionally think of it when I see vanity plates, but never expected to hear of it again.

I saw one on a car up at Lake Tahoe a few days ago, that said SNO XQS. Thought it was pretty clever.

Yes, it is--works either way: if it is, or if it isn't!
