Hmmm. I thought that thongs were a foot of stringing along ...

Are they called "jandals" anywhere else besides Zild?

When I was a kid living in Hawaii, everyone called them (them= thongs worn on the feet) "go-aheads."

Hawai'i now : flip-flops
Perhaps for the noise when walking?

Flip-flops in the UK as well.

They're usually called flip-flops here too, although some people (well, my dad at least) call them zaris.

I've also heard them refered to as zoris.
