Found this cute ditty and thought I'd share it:

Metabolism

It’s a very odd thing –
As odd as can be –
That whatever Miss T. eats
Turns into Miss T.;
Porridge and apples,
Mince, muffins and mutton,
Jam, junket, jumbles –
Not a rap, not a button
It matters; the moment
They’re out of her plate,
Though shared by Miss Butcher
And sour Mr. Bate;
Tiny and cheerful,
And neat as can be,
Whatever Miss T. eats
Turns into Miss T.

It's tens of years since I last saw this one, Luke. I had quite forgotten it. It really is neat - neat as Mis T herself!

Thanks for bringing it back to mind.

It had been decades since I last saw it as well. Fun to remember.

I've been searching for another rather cute and amusing poem, which had escaped me, but now I've found it. It's by Gavin Ewart.

Miss Twye.

Miss Twye was soaping her breasts in the bath
When she heard behind her a meaning laugh
And to her amazement she discovered
A wicked man in the bathroom cupboard.

I have three volumes of Comic and Curious Verse - perhaps you have some of these?

Nope! must have read it somewhere else.

Volumes quoted, above, are anthologies so, by definition, all the contents appear elsewhere.

Sure 'nuff. Anthologies. I have a couple, but don't think
they are in there. Probably some of the schools in which I
taught, if not university library, searching for something
and ran across them, and copied them. Could be in a file
in a file cabinet somewhere, I have about 5 of them, drawers
full.

Know what you mean! Mine are on the bottom two shelves on one wall of my study - the other four re books, as are several other shelves on the other walls. I must have a clear out - - - - one day.

When you finish, please come here and clean up mine.
I have so many shelves I fear the building will sink
with me in it, someday.

Have a nice evening.

Dust off and read again...it would be a shame to not enjoy some more.

I have shelves of 'unread' books to get to first, and
they keep coming out with more. So many books, so little time.
