here then are the entries for eonism; choose one:

a) a religion asserting that the world was created at sunrise today (along with all the geological and cosmological evidence of fifteen billion years of evolution) [from Eos, dawn]

b) the desire to create words indicating one's leanings, including towards causes, personal beliefs, and certain activities, and ending such words with –ism

c) a cerebral bruise that causes a person to have a stone-like demeanor

d) the belief that world history changes at thousand-year intervals

e) the belief that staring at a video feedback loop, created by projecting a camera's live feed onto the monitor which that camera is focused on, is the secret to longevity (after Hofstadter)

f) the belief that studying the lessons of history will prevent their repetition

g) sectarian the practice of worshiping the dawn

h) the complete and/or perfect realization of a concept

i) the belief that the narration of the six days of creation in the Book of Genesis represent six eons rather than six, twenty-four hour periods

j) transvestism, esp. by a man

k) the belief that things will be better tomorrow

Boy, a buncha folks jumped on that ism, eh?

I gotta go with I.

Eo! So much for the brave who dare to choose. I see my Big Mistake and hang on to Alphonse and Gastonism for a while.

I'm voting for A just for the sheer audacity of it.

Personally I don't believe the universe has yet been created; we're still working on the back memories implicit in this theory that are being created.

It just dawned on me - I gotta vote for G.

Owlbowism: the belief that k) is the correct answer and will be true.

I know this one doesn't loop kosher, but it's crafted with dedication so e)

E. It also negates the radiation causing grey hair!

it seems only one definition has nothing to do with time passing so i will choose that one - H

Actually, Latishya, B has nothing to do with time either, but I gotta go with the one that struck me first: I

that's everyone who submitted, except for musick (and who knows when he might wander back); but I'll wait a couple.

I like A.

In the meantime shall we make a bet on who took the right departure: the eonists, the eosists or the nihilists ?

>but I'll wait a couple.

I didn't expect it would be a couple of moments, or jiffies.. I hoped for a couple of days; but it definitely won't be eons, musick!

I like I and at least a thousand others... but I'm voting for D.

Thanks for all the pig scrubbing from the master.

systemadministrator, I love you! grin

I am new here so I might be missing something, but my dictionary equates eonism as transvestism. I am sure I must be missing something.
