..or, rats, how can we compete with GallantTed?

ah well,

ogerhunch, choose one:

a) a severe curvature of the dorsal spine, nowadays called "dowager's hump"

b) a small grotesque statue: gargoyle

c) [Norse mythology] Loki's land-bound familiar

d) a dead, bare tree with a single remaining branch

e) the feeling that you are about to be set upon by a monster

f) a churchgoer, e.g. gree hunger*

g) an arrogant, unfeeling, kyphotic prankster

h) [Yugoslavian origin] a sandwich made from heavy, crusty bread, seasoned veal and pork patties, and dark mustard

i) a sluttish woman who smells rank

j) any frightful or loathsome creature, especially a bat

k) the radius of the tightest section of a curve, used in calculating the correct degree of camber when designing a racecourse

I'm going to go with a).

Before I vote: where's the footnote to f)?
Posted By: hogmaster Re: Halloween Hogwash proceeds.. - 10/24/07 01:03 PM
oh, just try to ignore it.
Posted By: Buffalo Shrdlu Re: Halloween Hogwash proceeds.. - 10/24/07 01:37 PM
I like trees.

d.
Posted By: Jackie Re: Halloween Hogwash proceeds.. - 10/24/07 02:53 PM
I like trees. You gonna draw one like this, Sweetie? :-)

I too vote for A.
Posted By: tsuwm Re: Halloween Hogwash proceeds.. - 10/24/07 05:03 PM
by the by, (usually) reliable sources tell me that these contributions come from ASp, belMarduk, consuelo, Faldage, Hydra, Jackie, themilum, tsuwm, wofa, and Zed.

Unlike Anna, I read the footnote.
I vote F

[Yugoslavian]
Ha! Heavy crusty bread, seasoned veal, pork patties. I said I would not vote and won't but I did not say I would not comment.
This is a real humpback whale. Reaching far beyond the hunch Can't help to to have a severe giggle whenever I see it.

Oh,well. It's a game and a game without a laugh is a poor game.
My unvalid vote would be this one.
Posted By: consuelo Re: Halloween Hogwash proceeds.. - 10/25/07 11:46 AM
I'll take the J then

Hey! it's your birthday consuelo! Congratulations on your day and on your choice!

eh?
Posted By: AnnaStrophic Re: Halloween Hogwash proceeds.. - 10/25/07 02:27 PM
I like g) but I don't trust a definition that includes a word I have to look up (kyphotic). So I'll join forces with the birthday girl and vote for J.

Damn the armils, full speed ahead!

the above indicates ballots received to date from our contributors, (plus one improperly marked ballot from BranShea, I think she unvoted for h but the antecedent is ambiguous).

results will be posted early on 10/31, come hell or high water.

I couldn't help but notice that I haven't voted; and since this is a special event, I'm going to go against all precedent and cast my own ballot.

I really like g, because of the word kyphotic.
Posted By: themilum Re: Halloween Hogwash proceeds.. - 10/25/07 04:57 PM

Folks, this is just about as crazy as it gets!

tsuwm - the Hogmaster who selected the Hogwash word for us to guess - is now guessing which one of the ten definitions is the one that he chose.

Is this legal?

no, of course it isn't.

where is ron obvious when we need him?!

What the meaning of this? I contributed!

and you have already voted, hence the strikethrough.

in light of Hydra's reaction, one can't help but wonder what alternate interpretations are available??

Some confusion.Never mind.
Posted By: tsuwm Re: Halloween Hogwash proceeds.. - 10/26/07 07:31 PM
wouldn't one have to advertently equate "contributions" with "ballots" to make such a leap?!

-ron o.
Posted By: Buffalo Shrdlu Re: Halloween Hogwash proceeds.. - 10/26/07 07:34 PM
interesting. for me, the ensuing conversation is more confusing.

When did this game sneak in? One of us needs to keep up better.

A. selects d).

U kunt stemmen, Branny.

D the ogres and the monsters and the gargoyles and the anagrammists (almost)...

It's coming on winter. I'll take that last, bare, branch.

It's coming on winter. Geez, I wish--our leaves only started to turn last week!

Oh, it's a long, long while from May to December
But the days grow short when you reach September
When the autumn weather turns the leaves to flame
One hasn't got time for the waiting game.

Oh, the days dwindle down to a precious few
September, November
And these few precious days I'll spend with you
These precious days I'll spend with you

for those who simply can't wait any longer, check tomorrow's wwftd mail.

I envy you each flake of snow that falls.

And I don't know tsuwm. Some people seem to have no patience whatsoever.I'll wait for the word right here.
Posted By: Faldage Re: Halloween Hogwash proceeds.. - 10/30/07 10:10 AM
Oh. Was that impatience? I thought he was seconding his own vote for F.
Posted By: AnnaStrophic Re: Halloween Hogwash proceeds.. - 10/30/07 12:58 PM
Yep, I checked my wwftd. Not from impatience, mind y'all, but it's there in my mailbox. Like Mt Everest, on an admittedly smaller scale.

What I'd like to know, before finding out who the a) perp is: what other kind of spine is there besides dorsal?
