Well, I know it's a Chinese name. What language do you see this in?

Yeah, that was my first thought - "Oh, could just be a name, couldn't it". Only other thing I considered was that it might be a country reference .. like Bob US, Anne UK. NG would be short for Norway.

NG
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Ng may be a noun: For the Cantonese surname, see Ng. In Filipino and other Philippine languages, the letter Ng is treated as a separate letter and pronounced as in sing, ping-pong, etc.

NG may stand for:

Nigeria (ISO country code)
Nottingham: NG is the British post code for the region in eastern England which is served by Nottingham postal sorting office. (See list of UK areas). This is sub-divided into numbered districts. (See list of UK districts). These are further sub-divided into individual premises or small groups of premises.
National Geographic
Natural gas
Newgrounds(.com), a popular website for exhibiting Flash animations and games.
In Japanese, ng represents 'rejected product' or 'defective product' and is short for 'Not Good'.
ng may be a gramatical part of speech:

In Filipino and other Philippine languages, by itself, ng is a genitive marker and is an abbreviation that is pronounced nang [naŋ]
(The corresponding plural marker is mga, an abbreviation of mangá ).

But NG can also stand for Non Grata where, for instance, an ungullish avian descends on a public beach where sea gulls are squatting.
