actually those things that medical people put on the chest and run some kind of electric charge through to get the heart going?
Thanks. I just had a student ask and I didn't know, but told him I'd have the answer in thirty minutes here, guaranteed. (I hope!!)
Thanks again.
Defibrillator: An electrical device used to counteract fibrillation of the heart muscle and restore normal heartbeat by applying a brief electric shock.
(I have an friend who's an EMT)
Many thanks! All I could think of was 'fibulator,' which isn't a word at all.
I'll write the word on the board and my kids will be impressed with you as a living source, Owl!! Thanks again.
I haven't had my name on the board since the "Stay after school" list in 6th grade.
thanks, and you're welcome
Owlbow has it right, but the part that actually goes on the chest is called a paddle. There are two of 'em. And a body jerks a bit when hit by the charge, but normally not like shown on TV, where you often see the body sort of jumping off the gurney.
>fibulator
that's what every student wants....
Not even a lie detector test can uncover my fibulator.
