I'm interested in compiling a list of Latin words that have entered English by more than one route, like regal and royal. Any other good ones out there?

OK. Sounds like fun, but some a triple-dipped. parfait ~ perfect, (beef ~ bovine), piano ~ plane, palazzo ~ palace, piazza ~ plaza ~ place, cross ~ crux, card ~ chart, castle ~ chateau, cattle ~ chattel, pasta ~ paste ~ pâté, gimmal ~ gimbal ( ~ Gemini), empire ~ imperium, blank ~ blanche, bursa ~ burse ~ purse, (cereal ~ cerveza), pottage ~ porridge, &c.

You're welcome. What are you going to do with the list?

commit it to memory, just for the Sheol of it, and see how many of the sets I can find the unvarnished Germanic equivalents for.
