I've seen this abbreviation and I assume it is a variant of Hi-Fi, but I don't know exactly what it means. Anyone?

Wireless Fidelity

I happened to see this term for the first time today, myself. It was in an article discussing the lack of accessible ports for mobile computers. I just skimmed the article, so don't hang me if I got the details wrong.

I also remember something about computers built into future cars. My first reaction to that, was WooHoo! Then, I couldn't help but think how Really Dangerous that could turn out to be!

Wireless Fidelity is when [sic] you hook your computer up to a network wirelessly.

WiFi -- letting your spouse put one of those ankle bracelet tracking devices on you to prove you are staying home where you belong.

You get a little shock, I take it, when you wander toward the edge of the yard, Ted?

I think he does, WW. That's why some of his posts are so brief: he can only post shards from the edge.
