"'Vamanos, amigos,' he whispered, and threw the busted leather flintcraw
over the loose weave of the saddlecock. And they rode on in the
friscalating dusklight." - Wes Anderson, The Royal Tenenbaums
(read from his book by Eli Cash, Owen Wilson's character)

Dear tsuwm: "friscalating" is not a word I can expect to use, or encounter elsewhere.
But what in hell is a "flintcraw" and a "saddlecock"?
Can you tell us?

I suspect, in the extreme, that these are also nonce words confabulated by Wes Anderson in his effort to create a faux-Cormack-McCarthy ethos for the character of Eli Cash. [see The Royal Tenebaums]

...and as long as we're about it, let's have some comments from anyone who has seen this odd* movie.
