My newest pet hate:

versing; verb; to be competing against. Derived from versus. Eg, If I win the next match, I'll be versing the champion in the final.

Aaaarrrgghh.

Eeewww - I've never heard that before, but it sure ain't poetry to these ears.

This evolutionificationism of the language gets verse and verse...

In this instance, the trend needs to be reversed

EDIT And if versing is competing against, is co-operating with inversing ??

phony? You're not suggesting that all this is converseation, Mav?

Is "you phony" a euphemism?

Is "you phony" a euphemism?

Nope, euphony's a sweet sound.

a sweet sound

yay, y'all finally got the real thing... :p :)

Posted By: AnnaStrophic Re: you phony - 07/24/02 11:20 PM
Pick me! Pick me! I was the first! What's the prize?

(Sparteye punned on it and NancyK was more 'in your face' but.)

In disputing the uses of verse,
Doc offers us hearse versus nurse:
The poet sounds better
But the law owns the letter:
So remember you heard it here firs!

NancyK was more 'in your face'

Hey, I'm all for subtlety but. Y'all know that "in your face" is more my style

Yes, Nancy, I notice you're always so pushy! That's right, y'all heard it here firs.
