Hello.

I've tried to find the meaning of the phrase "reading faithfully" but with no success. I ask because I'm trying to translate it into finnish and straight translation of the words is gibberish.

Does it mean reading without any critisim and just accepting what one reads as a truth (by faith)?

It is difficult to be sure without context, but one of the meanings of 'faithful' is 'reliable, accurate, exact'. So I take 'reading faithfully' to mean reading aloud exactly what is written, without changing, adding or omitting anything.

I concur, without more context, this makes the most sense.

Or it could refer to a translation or an explanation, perhaps a clarification or interpretation - a '"faithful reading" of a text (such as, for example, the Constitution, or a Scripture), would explain a passage fully, without distortion, perhaps without judging
