Wondering about the possible relationship between the German word Waldeinsamkeit – “A feeling of solitude, being alone in the woods and a connectedness to nature”, the writings by Thoreau entitled Walden, the poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson: “Waldeinsamkeit”, and the fact that Emerson owned the land at the end of Walden Pond where Thoreau conducted his experiment.
Is it know if Emerson named the pond after the German word?
The poem and Walden were published within a few years of each other but I don't know how old the German word is.

I'm a new member so I hope this is all OK.
Thank you
