I recently discovered this - but cannot get anywhere with the etymology.

Doubtless some here will know?

or not; the wiki entry for cigarette holders at one time mentioned it, but removed it with this explanation:

the term does seem to exist, and doesn't seem to be found in any online dictionary (with the exception of Urban Dictionary, which isn't a reliable source). Google search for quellazaire dictionary -"Urban Dictionary" -Wikipedia has yielded only nine hits, none of them relevant. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 08:37, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
I agree - lacking a citation, the term should definitely be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.210.67.137 (talk) 06:15, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Looks like it might be a trade name, in which case etymology might be hard to squeeze out. Also, it has a whiff of French to it which may or may not be helpful in rousting out that etymology. I could see it as a name cobbled together for the sort of person who would use a cigarette holder, a name based largely on the cachet afforded it by its looking French.
