I need help finding a word. It was posted a few months ago but I cannot find it in my archives.

The word means something that is said that spoils the mood of the moment.

Thank you for the help.

Well--the only thing I could think of was to run it through Onelook's Reverse Dict. Somehow I don't think this will help, but just in case, you can take a look here.

unless the reverse dictionary has been updated, what you get is everything that contains spoil OR mood; what you want, of course, is spoil AND mood.

Also, mg, you can go here and Search for it. I'd do a chronological Search if I were you.

I'm having a hard time coming up with thingnames, but I can think of several adjectives; e.g., funereal, drear, caliginous..

oh, wait..
how about spoilsport or marplot?! or wowser!!

(but the OP will probly never come back; and none of these (including grinch) is a recent word-of-the-day)

Candy came up with killjoy a while back. Works for me. mgiesler doesn't seem to have come back.
