Could someone kindly suggest an adjective meaning recurring at intervals of an irregular but unspecified period of several years, as with the molting or mating habits of certain wildlife

zm thank you for that suggestion but I was hoping to find a term specific to an interval of several years. The term woujld describe an event biennial, triennial, etc After an inordinate bout perusing Thesaurus.com I had pretty well concluded that there isn't any such word but started this thread hoping I was wrong

That's cause I made the word up. Quidquid is Latin for 'whatever'.

When you said "irregular" did you mean that it could be, e.g., four years followed by two followed three followed by seven?

While just now reading an article on a literary magazine of the previous century I came across: The Dial was an American magazine published intermittently from 1840 to 1929. That is first from 1840 to 1844, second in the 1880s, and finally from 1920 to 1929.
