Please help me with the word that means sticking a knife into someone and twisting it. I am sure I have seen it here before.

Not that it answers the OQ, but I really like that word thwittle. It'd've been a good Hogwash word.

Makes me think of the sound of icicles falling down at a sudden thaw.

Well, it's a bit less specific on the twisting, but would certainly have to involve twisting, maybe eviscerate?
I can think of some other phrases, such as "rubbing salt into a wound", (which speaks to the social context) but not single words.

It's what's with jokes, I only understand them a week later.
