Actually, line printers printed a whole line at once, 80 type wheels would all line up for their respective characters and, whango! you've got your line printed out. The regular printer of the time would have a type ball or a daisy wheel. Those printers printed back and forth. But classical boustrophedon not only was the direction of the writing reversed but the individual characters were also reversed. See this example.
