Lately I read and hear "...graduated college". Does that grate on anyone elses ears? Or is that considered correct? And by whom? Also, I thought that "short (or long)-lived" was pronounced with a long, not short "i", but seldom hear it pronounced that way.

Wull, y'know it'd help if there was a verb "live" pronounced with a long i. Might give us something to hang your "long-lived" with a long i on.

or, alTERnately, we could hang our fedora on those descrip guys at W3,MWC,AHD:
lôngl[longi]vd, -l[shorti]vd (preference implied)

Clearly, /long-li:vd/ (approx), as in "My bonsai is getting really long-leaved... this can't be a good thing."
