Just to clarify that Gascony is not in the Mediterranean part of southern France but on the Atlantic side, that is the South West, between Bordeaux and the Pyrenees mountains.
And the source of some excellent wines, some very enjoyable food and scenery which, whilst not spectacular is, nevertheless, pleasant. The people are some of the nicest in france, IMHO. An area that is well worth a visit, if ever you are in France.
I'm not complaining about it, just a bit curious: why did you feel it was necessary to post the clarification? I don't recall seeing anything in the AWAD email that suggested Gascony was Mediterranean.
