methuselah: 1. An extremely old man. 2. An oversized wine bottle holding approx. 6 liters.

Language is a limitless source of amusement. Considering these definitions I was thinking of them as possible synonyms. ( only the contents might be a few liters more) (or less)

I thought the No. 2 was a magnum.

but this shows me differently: wine bottles

Does anyone remember the band Methuselah from the 60's? They had one record. Later they morphed into Amazing Blondel

melchior
The one in the middle must be the melchior (18 liters) the one on the right the methusala. I guess it needs a Goliath to pour from that melchior.

I wonder how many babies were fathered by a methuselah.

he said music was the food of love and a good mujhra seems to get people in the mood for something not unconnected to love so he might have been right.

"
Methus'lah lived nine hundred years
Methus'lah lived nine hundred years
But who calls dat livin' when no gal'll give in
To no man what's nine hundred years

I'm preachin' dis sermon to show
..................

In his 969 years only one is mentioned, and obviously for
the Genesis author, only one mattered: Lamech.

Yeahbut. He was a sprightly 187 when he fathered Lamech. And, since Lamech was Noah's father and we're all descended from Noah, Methuselah is the great-grand-daddy of us all. Also, of the seven generations before Methuselah, only one, fifth generation Maholalol, died younger than 900 years. And he lasted to 895.

Methuselah, BTW, died in the year of the flood. Whether in the flood is not noted.
