The word "odious" so strongly and inescapably engenders for me the memory of one famous speech that I was taken by its absence when I read your usage example (not criticizing here, just relating my word association):

"There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious—makes you so sick at heart—that you can't take part. You can't even passively take part. And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all." – Mario Savio, Sproul Hall Steps, December 2, 1964

One can feel the passion of the speaker. Thank you.

The power of the pre-soundbite speech.

Words in which there are more vowels than consonants?
Posted By: nosnjoh Re: odious - 09/09/09 03:19 PM
Letter words? ODS, SN9, KG?
Posted By: lagomcurt Re: odious - 09/09/09 03:34 PM
I'm thinking...words containing 3 different vowels.
Posted By: JustMolly Re: odious - 09/09/09 09:01 PM
I'm thinking ... undesirable descriptors? Adverse adjectives?

I like nosnjoh's idea. So today would be RKDA?
Posted By: fmbrowniii Re: odious - 09/10/09 04:07 PM
Ooops, Lost my Head, RKDN

Letter words? ODS, SN9, KG?

That was my guess too. Good to see a whole lot of first timers around here. Welcome one and all.

Well, seems we were right johnson. Just a tad bit slow.
Posted By: Jackie Re: odious - 09/14/09 02:44 AM
johnson I didn't even get that! Shame on me! And good on you!

I dearly hope that what's done in this game will not become fashionable. RKDN - all that's left of the handsome word arcadian. frown
BTW, I noticed that for the selected words Anu only used half of the 26 letters of the alphabet. Would it mean there are letters that are less or not fit to be used in this trick? He did not use: b-f-h-j-k-l-m-p-q-t-w-x-z

some LTRZ Я more FYKSHS than others.

Ha! Obviously. The second word I can't even guess. Effic hashish?
Efficacious?
Posted By: Jackie Re: odious - 09/19/09 03:53 AM
Gotta be your second one, Branny. (I couldn't get it, either; it's not a word I really use.) However, epic hashish could lead to quite a tale!
Posted By: BranShea Re: odious - 09/19/09 06:31 PM
Well, how would this look? " A thing of BUT is a joy forever".
No show.
Posted By: Faldage Re: odious - 09/20/09 11:20 AM
Maybe if it were "A thing of BUTT is a joy forever" for all the pygephiles among us.
