Seriously, what are the medical terms for "a pain in the neck"?

Seems it would be useful to have a more precise, if not more eloquent, expression for both the malady and the person/ situation in question.

WW

P.S. I'd really like to know so I can tell my nurse that she's one in terms she can understand.

Thanks,
WW

P.S. If you think of any others, great.
