Das"tard (?), n. [Prob. from Icel. dęstr exhausted. breathless, p. p. of dęsa to groan, lose one's breath; cf. dasask to become exhausted, and E. daze.] One who meanly shrinks from danger; an arrant coward; a poltroon.
