Just thought you might like to know that there is such a thing. Perhaps our photo hounds might dig up a photo of this insect I heard about on NPR one morning last week. Apparently its articulation dissuades bats from eating it--particularly how its head is articulated. I think it's from Costa Rica.

This is one ugly beast as well. I'm not sure if it's the same kind I encountered in Mexico, I didn't ask for an introduction before I squashed it. It smelled strongly of vinegar, that I do remember!
