aiguilette - 03/05/04 04:02 PM
From a glossary about armour I found in Carolyn's Corner:
Aiguilette: Literally "point of a shield," the small metal end that was capped onto a lacing point in order to keep it from fraying. Also called aglet, aiglet, anglet.
We've had posts about "aglet" the metal tip on a shoe lace,
but no mention of its origin.
