OP I was looking up origin of "Galgenhumor" and found this site which has quite a few German
words often seen in English text.http://www.etymologie.info/et/etgerman.html
Galgenhumor is gallow humor. Abe Lincoln told a story about crowd blocking way of carriage
taking condemned man to place of execution. The prisoner put his head out of the window
of the carriage, and yelled: "Don't hurry folks, there won't be any show until I get there."
