Here's the weekly NPR puzzle, hosted by our buddy the NY Times (non-cryptic) crossword puzzle editor, Will Shortz (btw the guy actually got his master's degree in cruciverbology! [or a word to that effect]). The time limit for submitting answers has just ended, so please put me out of my misery; I can't wait till Sunday. The Current Challenge (given April 25, 2004):
Name a world capital in six letters, then rearrange the six letters to name a well-known island. Here are two hints: the capital has more than 5 million people, so it's a big, well-known city. And the capital and the island are only about 1,000 miles apart. http://www.npr.org/programs/wesun/puzzle/

Well, I have (with a great deal of help from you) thought of a pairing that fits the bill. It does, however require that one consider "à" and "a" to be the same letter.

Mr Max:
Thanks for taking me out of my torment. And for leaving the puzzle open to others. I assume your leftist accent mark was intentional.

Yes, it was. Incorrect, as it turns out, but intentional.
